trails of the
Mantiqueira mountain chain are located in the
montane and
high - montane
altitudinal zone, between 800 and 3.000 height meters.
Hikes are predominantly difficult (tecnically and physically) with average daily walking times between 4 and 8 hours.
In the upper part, the trails sometimes disappear below the dense vegetation and there is little water available. In some places, basic climbing skills are required.
