Tropical Rainforest


The dense tropical rainforest (floresta ombrófila densa) is an evergreen, subtropical and tropical, sometimes also called ombrophilous or moist broadleaf forest, that occurs along Brazil´s Atlantic coast, in the lowland areas and on the slopes of the Serra do Mar mountain chain.
The open tropical rainforest (floresta ombrófila aberta) is a transitional rainforest ecosystem, that connects the Amazon with the Atlantic Rainforest. It is characterized by a climate with more than two and less than four dry months and average temperatures between 24 °C and 25°C.
The mixed tropical rainforest ecosystem (floresta ombrófila mista), also called araucária forest occurs mainly in the state of Paraná. It is characterized by an ombrophilous climate, with average temperatures around 18 °C, but three to six months relatively cold, where average temperatures can fall below 15 °C – Rainforest Tours / Brazil.
